PAST PERFECT SIMPLE

 The past perfect is used to talk about an action that happened before another in the past, it is formed with Subject + auxiliary verb “had” + past participle; It is often accompanied by the adverbial ready, just, never.

(Il past perfect si usa per parlare di un’azione che ha avuto luogo  prima di un’altra nel passato, si forma con soggetto + verbo ausiliario “had” + participio passato; spesso è accompagnato dagli avverbi already, just, never)

He was very tired because he had not slept enough
