GOING TO

“Going to” is used to talk about future intentions and plans, to make predictions based on current facts, and to express that something is about to happen. It is formed with the verb "to be" + "goingto" + " infinitive of the main verb"

(“Going to” è usato per parlare di intenzioni e piani futuri, per fare previsioni basate su fatti correnti per esprimere che qualcosa sta per succedere. Si forma con verbo “to be” + “going to” + “ infinito del verbo principale”)

• She is going to stay here (Lei rimarrà qui)

• I am going to leave (Sto per andare via)

"Going to" can also be used in constructs that express past facts, in which case the verb "to go" is conjugated with the past tense

(Going to" può essere usato anche in costrutti che esprimo fatti passati, nel cui caso il verbo “to go” viene coniugato con il passato)

• She was going to leave, but the telephone rang. (Stava per partire, ma il telefono squillò)

• I am going to play.

• She is not going to play.

• are you going to play?

• Is not (isn't) he going to play?

Difference between "Will" e "Going to"

We use "going to" for certain future events, upcoming actions. We use "will" for spontaneous decisions, predictions and personal ideas.

(Usiamo "going to" per eventi futuri certi, azioni imminenti. Usiamo "will" per decisioni spontanee, previsioni e idee personali).
